How Playbase Nursery Came Together.....
A family run business
Over twenty years of experience whilst owning and managing Nursing Homes and a Community Care facility, Christine Ellwood R.G.N, made the decision to open a children's Nursery.
Christine has two grandchildren herself and was actively involved in the search for a suitable pre-school for them.
The above demonstrated the difficulties faced by responsible parents who would like only the best for their children, but have to deal with limitations. Looking back, there were a lot of good things being offered, as well as a lot of things that weren't quite so suitable.
Playbase Nursery commits to helping all children create "a responsible bridge between home and the larger world outside...happiness and play are essential ingredients."
Carl Weatherill - one of the Directors of Playbase, has spent the last ten years as an administrator and a director of the above Nursing Homes and Care facility.
As a working Dad himself, Carl knows only too well the pressures and problems often faced by parents, who need confidence in their choice of children's Nursery.
With excellent organisational skills and sound financial acumen Carl's reliablity as a person and his passion in business drives forward his wish..."To help and prepare children for later life in School, with confidence and contentment."
Mary Ellwood is also a Director at the Nursery and has come from a nursing background. Prior to Playbase, Mary worked as a Staff Nurse at Royal Preston Hospital for 8 years, her knowledge and experience benefit the Nursery greatly.
Mary has since expanded her knowledge in this area by becoming a qualified Nursery Nurse, as well as a HSE recognised First Aid Trainer.
Mary enjoys taking an active role in the day-to-day running of Playbase and has a passion for staff training and development.
